Wellington ICU is located on level 3 of the Main Hospital Building.
The unit is most easily accessed through the Hospital Main Entrance on Riddiford Street. From the atrium, take the escalator (on the left), lifts (on the right) or stairs (further in on the right before the cafe) up one level to level 3. The ICU is to the right of this area and is clearly signposted. Entrance to ICU is via a volunteer receptionist during office hours or by using the intercom at other times.
A waiting area is located immediately adjacent to the main entrance to the unit and also in the mezzanine area outside.
For After Hours access (between 9.30pm and 6am), please go to the After Hours entrance at the south end of the hospital by Delivery Suite and the Emergency Department.
There are a number of taxi companies operating in Wellington. There is a taxi rank directly outside the main hospital entrance, serviced by Wellington Combined Taxis.
A free shuttle is available for patients, family and whānau travelling between Kenepuru and Wellington Regional Hospital. A shuttle is also available for travel to/from the Kāpiti Coast. Both services require a booking to be made in advance. More information can be found here.

Wellington Central railway station is located in the CBD, close to the ferry terminals. It is the terminus for frequent trains to and from Johnsonville, Melling, Hutt Valley, Waikanae, and Masterton. There are frequent bus connections to the hospital. More information on trains can be found here.
Wellington Regional Hospital is clearly signposted by name from State Highway 1. It is also shown as a white cross on a blue background.
The main underground car park for visitors is accessible from the Riddiford Street entrance. On-site hospital parking is provided by Care Park but is often limited. Parking charges apply; the rates are available here.
We are able to provide one free parking ticket per day for relatives of patients in ICU. Please ask the ward clerk or nurse in charge for more information.
The hospital is about 15 minutes away from Wellington International Airport in the suburb of Miramar. There are frequent domestic and international connections available with a number of airlines. The airport is well served by taxis, shuttles, and buses.
